¿Dónde se origina la inspiración? El ser humano, por naturaleza, vive en una constante pugna interna por reinventarse; el arte, en todas sus vertientes, se presenta como el medio ideal para entrar en catarsis. Si bien las manifestaciones artísticas llegan sin avisar, muchas veces los humanos nos vemos obligados a confrontar los espacios más recónditos de nuestro subconsciente -por intimidante que esto pueda resultar- para que, a través de la observación y el cuestionamiento, logremos encontrar esa chispa que encienda nuestras emociones y clarifique nuestras ideas, permitiéndonos convertirlas en medios tangibles que interactúan con las demás personas.
Desde 2009, Lilian Muñoz, mejor conocida como Demencia Beivide, explora la necesidad de enfrentarnos a nosotros mismos para encontrar paz y plenitud, abrazando «la locura como el personaje que todos evadimos ser». Con un estilo de gráficas complejas y texturas voluminosas, la técnica de Demencia ha ido evolucionado, adoptando la línea como el componente característico de sus obras, la cual «delimita y al mismo tiempo crea». A través de la exploración de la forma humana y su relación con el entorno en el que hoy nos encontramos, Demencia explora los límites de la locura, para abstraer lo más orgánico de la mente. Los colores y las texturas presentes en su obra evocan un diálogo permanente entre el ser humano y la naturaleza a través del tiempo. Formada como diseñadora gráfica por la Universidad del Valle de México en la ciudad de Querétaro, Lilian se mantiene en formación constante aprendiendo nuevas técnicas en talleres impartidos por diferentes artistas.
Como artista multidisciplinaria ha participado en proyectos de arte urbano y diseño industrial, además de diferentes aplicaciones artísticas como la ilustración y la cerámica, invitando a sus espectadores a reflexionar sobre temas como la identidad y el tiempo. Entre sus trabajos más característicos se encuentran los cráneos de cerámica o como ella los llama «maceteros dementes», los cuales, además de fungir como soporte de vida para cualquier tipo de planta, están inspirados en la cultura azteca donde el cráneo representaba un símbolo de eternidad y resurrección. Demencia crea esta obra en forma de cráneo para reforzar y difundir el simbolismo prehispánico, «personalizando vidas con diseño y folklore mexicano». Así Lilian demuestra que el arte no debe limitarse por el medio en el que es transmitido ya que, como la misma Demencia lo menciona en su sitio web, ella pinta sobre cualquier superficie.
Demencia Beivide se ha convertido en una artista plástica de renombre en la escena nacional participando en eventos como el 20 Aniversario del Museo de la Ciudad de Querétaro, el Festival Internacional de Jazz de San Miguel de Allende y la feria URVANITY ART 2018 en la Galería Balneario de Madrid. Este año se unirá al grupo de artistas nacionales e internacionales que integrarán el festival internacional SeaWalls: El Agua Es Una, una nueva edición del programa SeaWalls: Artists for Oceans producido por Nueve Arte Urbano y la Fundación PangeaSeed, a celebrarse del 27 de marzo al 15 de abril del año en curso en la ciudad de Querétaro.

Where does inspiration come from? The human being, by nature, lives in a constant internal struggle to reinvent himself; art, in all its aspects, is presented as the ideal means to enter catharsis. Although artistic manifestations come unannounced, we humans are often forced to confront the innermost spaces of our subconscious – as intimidating as this may be – so that, through observation and questioning, we can find that spark that ignites our emotions and clarifies our ideas, allowing us to turn them into tangible means that interact with other people.
Since 2009, Lilian Muñoz, better known as Demencia Beivide, explores the need to confront ourselves to find peace and fulfillment, embracing»madness as the character we all evade being». With a style of complex graphics and voluminous textures, the technique of Dementia has evolved, adopting the line as the characteristic component of his works, which he»delimits and at the same time creates». Through the exploration of the human form and its relationship with the environment in which we find ourselves today, Dementia explores the limits of madness, to abstract the most organic from the mind. The colours and textures present in his work evoke a permanent dialogue between man and nature through time. Trained as a graphic designer by the Universidad del Valle de México in the city of Querétaro, Lilian is constantly learning new techniques in workshops given by different artists.
As a multidisciplinary artist she has participated in urban art and industrial design projects, as well as different artistic applications such as illustration and ceramics, inviting her viewers to reflect on themes such as identity and time. Among her most characteristic works are the ceramic skulls, or as she calls them,»crazy flowerpots», which, in addition to serving as life support for any type of plant, are inspired by the Aztec culture where the skull represented a symbol of eternity and resurrection. Demencia creates this skull-shaped work to reinforce and spread pre-Hispanic symbolism,»personalizing lives with Mexican design and folklore. Thus Lilian demonstrates that art should not be limited by the medium in which it is transmitted, since, as Dementia herself mentions on her website, she paints on any surface.
Demencia Beivide has become a renowned plastic artist in the national scene participating in events such as the 20th Anniversary of the Museum of the City of Queretaro, the International Jazz Festival of San Miguel de Allende and the fair URVANITY ART 2018 in the Spa Gallery of Madrid. This year he will join the group of national and international artists that will be part of the international festival SeaWalls: Water Is One, a new edition of the SeaWalls: Artists for Oceans program produced by Nueve Arte Urbano and the PangeaSeed Foundation, to be held from March 27 to April 15 of this year in the city of Queretaro.
